Welcome to my webpage dealing with the presentation I call
Disillusioned.
As a magician I know how easy it is to be fooled. And while
being fooled by a magic trick can be entertaining, being fooled in real life can
lead to serious and costly consequences. For this reason, I have put together a
presentation to encourage us to use the tools God has given us to help us become
disillusioned. As
Oswald Chambers wrote, “Refusing to be disillusioned is the cause of much
of the suffering of human life.” I couldn’t agree more.
Within this presentation I begin by performing a couple of
magic tricks simply to demonstrate just how easy it is be fooled. I then share
what I have found to be the key difference between having faith in something
that is true and having faith in a falsehood. And when it comes to having faith
in something, what could be more important than our beliefs dealing with the
fundamental question of why we are here?
For me, this faith, true or false, is the foundation on which we build
our life, and unlike those whom simply close their eyes and hope for the best, I
believe it is profitable to test our foundation, and move to a solid foundation
if ours is not up to the task.
As for my own beliefs on this subject, I share why my faith
in a God who created all things, who desires a loving relationship with us, and
who has given us resources so that we can see through life’s illusions. I also
share why I believe it is important for us to continually allow our life and our
beliefs to be tested.
I conclude my presentation by sharing the Good News of what
Jesus Christ did for us, followed by a time of questions and open discussions.
While I share what I believe is true, and while I believe
what I believe for a reason, my purpose in sharing my beliefs is not to convince
others to have faith in what I believe, nor is it my intent to tell others what
they “must” believe and how they “must” act. In other words while I openly share
what I believe, my desire is not to promote the beliefs of one particular
denomination over another, rather it is my hope that God will use me to
encourage others to seek out and put their faith completely in God alone, so
that He may lead them into all truth.
Also, as much as I believe that others need to complete trusting in God,
this complete trusting in God is something that I am still learning to do. For
me the issue is not do I have faith in beliefs about God, but whether I have
complete faith in God.
As the Apostle Paul writes, “Not
that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I
press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by
Christ Jesus.” This is my desire for others, and for me.
If you believe this presentation/conversation would be a
benefit some group with whom you are associated, it would be my privilege to
work with you in trying to put something together. As for expenses, an
honorarium and/or free will offering, etc, would be welcomed and appreciated,
but, outside of covering my expenses, it would not be the deciding factor in my
making a visit to your school. Again, this is not a magic show. I only do a
couple of tricks to begin my show as an example of just how easy it is for us to
be fooled.
I believe this message has been given me by God for the
purpose of encouraging others to grow in their relationship with Him. As such, I
consider it my duty and my privilege to offer and share it with others.
Jesus is Lord!
